INTRODUCTION
The <METHANE> is an interactive, user-friendly computer program for simulating the biological transformations occuring in anaerobic digestion systems. The first version of the program was created during 1991-1992 by Vasily A. Vavilin (model structure), Victor B. Vasiliev (computing algorithms in MS Fortran 4.0), Sergey V. Rytov (visualization of system dynamics in Qick-Basic 4.0), Andrey V. Ponomarev (menu-drive program in Borland's Turbo-Pascal 5.5). Lately, Ljudmila Ya. Lokshina joined to our small group for developing the new versions of the program.
You must know that the program was created in DOS for such computers as IBM PC AT 386. In that period of time MS-DOS was organized properly. Maximum allowable size of the <METHANE> program must be not lower than 600 K. If it is lower, use a memory manager (EMM3386.exe) to load DOS and your resident programs to an upper memory (see the file "readme.!!!"). Otherwise, it may be some memory problems. In that case, using ESC you can start the program also but some additional options may be not opened. There is the "methane.exe" file for starting.
